Sudanese National Commission for UNESCO

 

Establishment :

The Charter of United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization calls for establishing National Commission in the member States to serve as link between UNESCO and competent authorities.

Sudan Joined UNESCO: 26 November 1956 and the Sudanese National Commission for Education, Science and Culture was established by the Republic Resolution No. 271 on 16 March 1976.

In-order to develop and promote the Commission’s role the President issued the Decree of the Sudanese National Commission for UNESCO by Resolution No.1909 Act. 2001.

FUNCTION OF THE COMMISSION

• The Commission shall have competence to conduct basin initiative as may aim at development and promotion of co-operation and co-ordination between the Republic of the Sudan, regional, and international organizations, working in the field of Education, Science and Culture, (UNESCO), (ALECSO), (ISESCO) and (PAIED).

• The Commission adopts the project and proposals of competent bodies and submit them to these organizations for funding. The Commission supervises their implementation on other hand the Commission tender consultancy to government and people's associations and institutions about the most ideal ways of contribution, and participation into, the activity of organization, and the most benefit of the programmes.

• The Commission promotes co-operation, with other National Commissions for Education, Science and Culture, in general, and those constituted at Arab and African levels, in particular.

STRUCTURE of THE COMMISSION

• THE ADMINISTRATION BOARD:
• The Board shall be competent to propose down the general policy and supervise the Commission, it is chaired by the Minister of General Education, including 25 members representing the relative institutions and the Secretary-General.

• THE EXECUTIVE BOARD:
• It shall be constituted of nine members as follows:-
• Three of the Board members to be appointed by the Minister of General Education, and the chairpersons of the five technical committees, and also the Secretary-General as repporteur.

TECHNICAL COMMITTEES
• Technical Committees are constituted as follows:
• Education Committee
• Natural Science Committee
• Social and Human Science Committee
• Culture Committee
• Communication, Information and Informatics Committee
